Antti is a Pupil Barrister at Rowchester Chambers, practising in immigration law. Prior to commencing pupillage, since 2003 he already regularly appeared before the immigration tribunals to represent clients.
He has worked as a lawyer since 2000, running his own consultancy with a legal aid contract for several years and before that at the former IAS (Immigration Advisory Service) where he specialised in error-of-law hearings and higher appeals and also engaged in policy work and attended international conferences (e.g., Integration and Security - Muslim Minorities and Public Policy in Europe and the United States; organised by the Division of Global Affairs, Rutgers, and CEVIPOF (Centre de recherches politiques de Sciences Po.) in March 2009 in Paris).
He was also a UK project manager and country expert (2009-11) for the Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX III), the unique long-term project which evaluates and compares what governments are doing to promote the integration of migrants in all EU Member States and several non-EU countries.
He was the instructing lawyer in the successful country guidance case of NA (risk categories – Hema) Democratic Republic of Congo CG [2008] UKAIT 00071 and in AD (reporting criteria – unreported cases) Somalia [2011] UKUT
00189(IAC).
