Sally-Anne Nwachuku

Sally-Anne Nwachuku is a barrister practising in Immigration, Family and Civil law, with over 11 years’ experience working within the immigration and asylum field.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Sally-Anne spent over a decade with the Home Office, initially as a Presenting Officer and subsequently as a Senior Presenting Officer. During this time, she developed extensive experience in asylum, human rights, deportation, EUSS and Article 8 matters, appearing regularly before the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal.

Her extensive experience of immigration decision-making from within the Home Office provides Sally-Anne with a valuable insight into the way cases are considered by the Respondent and enables her to identify weaknesses in decision-making, evidential gaps and issues requiring particular scrutiny.

Since coming to the Bar, Sally-Anne has secured a number of significant outcomes for her clients. These include successfully challenging dismissed First-tier Tribunal decisions, obtaining permission to appeal where inadequate reasoning or material errors were identified, and successfully advocating cases involving trafficking, modern slavery, mental health, family life and private life.

Sally-Anne has also shown admirable success in her Judicial Review work, often drafting grounds which successfully grant permission and having removal directions stayed - even at short notice.

Having previously worked on the other side of the immigration system and now practising as an advocate at the Bar, Sally-Anne brings a unique combination of institutional insight, legal experience and client-focused advocacy. She is committed to providing robust representation while ensuring that every client feels heard, informed and properly represented throughout their case.
